Van 10-14 juli zal de Quantum Gravity conference plaatsvinden in ons prachtige Nijmegen! Hierbij komen professoren en doctoren vanuit de hele wereld samen om te spreken en leren over, je raadt het al, Quantum Gravity. In dit vakgebied probeert men de zwaartekracht te beschrijven volgens de principes van kwantummechanica. Met als doel om situaties waarin zowel zwaartekracht als kwantumeffect een significante rol spelen, denk aan zwarte gaten en neutronsterren, beter te begrijpen.

Speciaal voor master studenten is er ook een lezing ingepland!

Woensdag, 12 juli, 12:30-13:30 in HG00.307:

• Mercedes Martín-Benito (Complutense University of Madrid)
• Laurent Freidel (Perimeter Institute)

In dit praatje zullen Mercedes en Laurent jullie meenemen door hun persoonlijke ervaring met Quantum Gravity, hoe ze zelf bij dit onderwerp terecht zijn gekomen en welke uitdagingen ze nu allemaal tegenkomen in hun onderzoek. Aansluitend op de lezing is er ruimte voor een Q&A. Zet de data voor nu alvast groot in je agenda en mis deze kans, om uit eerste hand de grenzen van het onderzoek naar Quantum Gravity te ervaren, niet!

Quantum Gravity Conference

From 10-14 July, the Quantum Gravity conference will take place in our beautiful Nijmegen! Here, professors and doctors from all over the world will come together to talk and learn about, you guessed it, Quantum Gravity. In this field, people try to describe gravity according to the principles of quantum mechanics. With the aim of better understanding situations where both gravity and quantum effects play a significant role, think black holes and neutron stars.

A lecture has also been scheduled especially for master students!
