The world is warming up, because of both the unusual weather and the firing of artillery at our very next door. But while the science of climate is on all the news, the studies and crafts behind war often remain hidden. We will discover them together in this Science Café night about the science of war. As it has always been in the history of civilizations, scientific understanding and technological advancements bring societal changes and impact warfare. Today's weapons are different, and so are states' sensitive targets and how wars are won. From the psychology used for training armies and devising tactics to the material science that creates more efficient weapons, science has changed how we think about almost every aspect of war. And we want to stay updated!

For this reason, on the 21st of September, at the Shamrock, the Science Café will bring together three experts, Tim Sweijs, Ralph Savelsberg and Clara Maathuis, to talk with us about this compelling theme.

To cool down the spirits while keeping the souls warm, Punch! will play jazz and fusion music throughout the night to create a peaceful atmosphere of scientific discussion.

Deze week staat een hele speciale biermiddag op de planning: de TheMagieBiermiddag. Pak je toverstaf en sterrenstof daarom maar uit de kast en laat je betoveren op deze biermiddag!

Kom genieten van bier fris of wijn terwijl je kunt genieten van verschillende magische spelletjes met leuke prijsjes en magische hapjes.

Naast deze magische taferelen, kun je ook leren om met een andere toverstaf om te gaan: het toverstafgereedschap van InDesign! Tussen 17:30 en 19:30 verzorgt Bob Stienen een InDesign-cursus voor iedereen die wil leren hoe je bijvoorbeeld een magische poster maakt, of een hele mooie almanak. Het is weer tijd voor de allereerste Impuls van dit jaar. Het thema van deze editie zal "...met heel veel toffe peren" zijn! Dit lijkt misschien een beetje random... en dat is het ook!
Wil jij iets schrijven over wie jij waardeert als persoon, je sterke mening over peren, of juist iets totaal ongerelateerds? Dan zien we jouw inzending graag tegemoet! Ook als je niks wil schrijven, maar een mooie tekening/foto/kleurplaat/puzzel/etc. wil maken, dan is dat ook heel erg welkom.
