Op donderdag 6 juli gaat de Kookcie nog één laatste keer koken op de Biermiddag voor de zomer begint. Tijdens deze laatste Kookcie Biermiddag van het collegejaar verzorgt de Kookcie weer een heerlijke goedkope maaltijd, en deze keer staat er mexicaanse wraps op het menu.

Dit zal bestaan uit de volgende ingrediënten:

• Volkoren wraps
• Vegan gehakt
• Tomaat
• Komkommer
• Paprika
• Maïs
• Kidney bonen
• Sla
• Haver fraiche (vegan créme fraiche)
• Vegan kaas

De kosten zullen rond de €3,30 zijn, die je ter plekke bij ons kan afrekenen.
Let op: als je je inschrijft, gaan we er ook vanuit dat je mee-eet en betaalt. Mocht je toch niet kunnen komen, zorg dan dat je je op tijd uitschrijft!

Van 10-14 juli zal de Quantum Gravity conference plaatsvinden in ons prachtige Nijmegen! Hierbij komen professoren en doctoren vanuit de hele wereld samen om te spreken en leren over, je raadt het al, Quantum Gravity. In dit vakgebied probeert men de zwaartekracht te beschrijven volgens de principes van kwantummechanica. Met als doel om situaties waarin zowel zwaartekracht als kwantumeffect een significante rol spelen, denk aan zwarte gaten en neutronsterren, beter te begrijpen.

Speciaal voor bachelor studenten is er ook een lezing ingepland!

  Gravity: from classical to quantum
  In this talk I will describe how probing physics at ever smaller distance scales motivates us to bring together quantum physics and gravity. Consistently unifying a theory of the very largest scales (gravity) with one that describes the smallest (quantum physics) has been a fundamental open problem in theoretical physics since the middle of the 20th century. Beginning with classical gravity, we will see why it needs to be quantized, why this is such a difficult challenge, and discuss some contemporary approaches towards its resolution.

  Black holes as a stage for quantum physics
  Black holes are some of the most extreme objects that we know of in the universe. By studying black holes, one pursues gravity to the horizon of our knowledge. Surprisingly, theory predicts that quantum effects also play an important role in black hole dynamics, through Hawking radiation and black hole evaporation. Therefore these objects provide us with a first glimpse of the interplay between gravity and quantum physics. In this talk we will discuss what these effects are and why they have fascinated generations of physicists.

Here, professors and doctors from all over the world will come together to talk and learn about, you guessed it, Quantum Gravity. In this field, people try to describe gravity according to the principles of quantum mechanics. With the aim of better understanding situations where both gravity and quantum effects play a significant role, think black holes and neutron stars.

A lecture has also been scheduled especially for bachelor students!

Wat is er nou leuker dan lekker Kanoën als afsluiting van het jaar?
Nou niks, daarom gaan we 13 juli gezellig het jaar afsluiten in een kano.We zullen om 13:00 uur verzamelen voor het huygens gebouw om vanuit daar naar de kano locatie te fietsen. Schrijf je nu in en kom gezellig mee kanoën!Daarna kunnen we uiteraard door naar de eindejaars barbebecue op het waalstrandje.Denk ook vooral aan je zwemkleding, handdoek en zonnebrand.
